We asked one of our favorite Florists Yelena Riches who owns Elegant Designs Floral Art Studio for some tips in helping you shop for your wedding flowers.  We want to thank Yelena for being a guest blogger on our site.  The good news is Yelena will be offering up tips for us on a montly basis so be sure to check back for more helpful information!

"Tips and Hints"

*  Think about the shape and size of the flowers you'd like to carry in relation to the style of your dress. If your bouquet is too large, you could loose the line of the dress; too small and it may seem insignificant. There are many shapes to choose from and showing your florist a picture of your dress will help them to guide you in the right direction.

* Your bridal flowers and venue flowers don't have to match - there are no rules! You can use classic, white flowers for the bride's bouquet, then introduce a color to the bridesmaids' bouquets and the reception flowers.

* Be honest about your budget and realistic about what you'd like. If your chosen flowers take you over the budget, there is always a compromise to be found with equally beautiful, less expensive flowers.

* Pick a florist you get on with. Double check that they'll actually be the team member responsible for the flowers on the day.

* Choose your wedding day carefully. Florists are very busy around Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and Christmas. Your flowers may also cost more oat these times.

* Check your ceremony and reception venue as to any decorating restrictions they may have - for example, rose petals, open flame of the candle, etc...

* If you can, take your florist to view your ceremony and reception venues, so that they can design displays appropriate to the setting.

* Making a mood board is a great way of showing your florist the type of look you're trying to achieve. The board can feature anything inspirational and it does not necessarily have to be flower-related - fabric swatches, ribbons, photos, paint sample cards, and so on, can help to build up a picture. With a little imagination your florist will be able to design the perfect flowers.
