I love to watch the Rachel Ray show. Not only does she have some tasty recipes she also has some really great guests. One interesting thing I leaned from Rachel today was that her mom planned her wedding. Rachel said she didn't have to worry about a thing because her mom handled it all. She didn't have that much stress. You might be surprised to know that over 50% of the wedding photography we book is by mom's calling us and handling it for their daughters and sons!.
Today Rachel had on Mindy Weiss Event planner. Rachel asked her for some tips to share and here's what Mindy Weiss had to say:
"Use succulent plants and candles instead of flowers for centerpieces. they are green and can be re-planted."
To me this suggestion is great for anyone concerned with going green.
"Get creative and make your own place cards." Mindy showed shells (a Florida favorite) and said you could put the guests name on the shell and use it as the place holder. Great idea don't you think?

"Skip larger room decorations in favor of cute touches at the tables." Mindy says, "I always say, put the money where it's in their face. They are looking at it for hours

You eyes are largely on the table and the people you are sitting around. It makes sense to decorate the tables accordingly.
"Whimsical Party Favors" Mindy showed Flip Flops placed in a festive sheer bag for each guest. The bag is then placed on the back of the chairs. That is certainly a different idea isn't it? We'll cover more on wedding favors in another post.
